It is again possible to register on the site. The forum has been updated and admin activation has been disabled. Now I'm going to install some new scripts to ensure we are not hit by stupid spam again

I'm not yet sure what the best way to stop the spam is, so what I've done is to require every new member to be enabled by me, and I'll start deleting the spam members.
I'm sorry I haven't been much around lately, I've been busy elsewhere and I thought it was ok to take a break since things were running smoothly. As I write this I'm still not sure how much time I'll be spending on the site in the near future. Also, my e-mail is down, so if you want to contact me, please do so with PMs on this site.

If you haven't noticed, spam bots have been registering for the last four weeks; unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to prevent them from registering, so we'll have to wait for Fro to do something before they stop. In the meantime, I suggest to just try to ignore it; there's no need to inform me about the spam, as I'll notice and delete them whenever I visit the site.

We were hit by some spam the last few days, that should now be fixed. In addition to stopping their access, I also mass deleted all the new users. There was probably an honest user or two in there, so if you signed up the last week and find yourself not being able to login, then just sign up again (I made sure no one with posts were deleted).
Edit: Apparently they can still register! I'll do some more research then...

We're back!
Some random spammers sending e-mails from the site resulted in our old host shutting down the site. It was a bit of a blow because I've been working towards making the site need less and less moderator maintenance. I hope, but I do not expect, that you will understand my reaction to the spamming: that I took a break from it all. I'm sorry you were all left in the dark about it, but I didn't know where to announce anything - and my e-mail had been shut down as well.
Elitescores now have a new host, MediaLayer, which specializes in the sort of site this is. We're also paying more than before, so I hope it will suffice; it's definitely a much better host, but we now have a bandwidth limit. I'm still with the old host for klow.net, where I have all my e-mail accounts. This means that if we're hit by spammers again I can just close off the Elitescores e-mail function.
We've been going now for almost 7 years, and I have no plans to end it here, and I hope you all feel the same way!

First of all, the top menu has been changed slightly to be more intuitive.
The big update this time is a proof system revision. No longer is there a limit of three people per proof, there's no limit at all now. You can also change your chosen option within 15 minutes of first submitting. I think I've found a decent solution to how we can trust the people who approve the scores. I've set up a script that checks if you click the links or not, and how much time is spent looking at the proof. Of course you can mimick this behavior and trick everyone, but it will no longer be a time saver - since the mods will be able to see how much time you spent watching the proof. I realize this is a bit Orwellian, but it is necessary, and you won't be bothered by it.
In order for us to do this, you have to stay logged in when watching the proof and approving scores. You will be awarded contribution points only if you left click the links and watch the proof before approving a score.
Summer is finally here so I have more time to program. Expect more updates soon!
